I usually work from life, painting intimate relationships. I’m constantly looking about and finding inspiration in daily life and the world at large. My approach to painting is nicely explained by a Robert Irwin quote,”Seeing is forgetting the name of the thing one sees.” I often paint from the same subject many times and always with new results. The work is abstraction. Its important to me to be genuine and fresh, and formally engaged. Recently, I find myself painting from still lifes in the winter and plein air as weather permits.
